The Birds’ Pipe

The birds’ pipe has born from an old sketch  made by me two years before—one that had come to me spontaneously but had never seen the light of day (or rather, the briar).

It was perfect, capturing exactly what I was feeling—the desire to let my imagination take flight.

I want to infuse my pipes with a sense of lightheartedness and playfulness, an antidote to life’s challenges.

This particular pipe required extremely meticulous and delicate craftsmanship! I also had a lot of fun making the little birds interact with each other. The briar I used is a first-choice Mimmo block, and the stem is made of SEM Jaguar green ebonite.

The final touch? The box—naturally, a birdhouse—crafted from red oak. The stand, on the other hand, is made of maple, with the part that holds the stem crafted from Delrin.
